Network Deployment

Comprising of distributed services, Siren 2007 harnesses resources across an entire network; combining modems, sound cards and other common hardware to become a powerful communications system.

A network deployment must include the following Siren 2007 components:

  • Database

There must be 1 database in any system.

  • Monitor Service

There must be 1 monitor service in any system.

The monitor service should run on the same computer as the database.

  • Server Service

There must be 1 server service in any system.

The server service may run on the same computer as the database.

Alternatively, you could connect to the database across a network. This solution is a more scalable solution as it allows extra resources to be available for the database and server separately. You will need to share the folder containing the database.

  • Communicator Service

There must be 1 or more communicator services in any system.

The communicator service must run on all computers containing hardware used to send messages. In other words, if your computer has a modem or a sound card that will deliver messages then you must run the communicator service.

You can conserve resources by disabling the communicator on computers that will not be used to send messages. The integrity monitor will raise an error to let you know if you turn a required service off by mistake!

  • Client

There must be 1 or more client applications in any system.

The installation program ensures that the client is always be installed on the computer with the server because the client is required to configure Siren 2007.

The client should also be installed on all computers from which you wish to raise alarms. Security and alarm stations should keep the client running at all times to receive early notification of alarm conditions and monitor system status.
