Voice Messages Siren 2007 uses TAPI to play recorded voice messages to sound cards and modems. If you wish to use this feature of the software then you will need to record your own voice messages to meet the requirements of your hardware drivers. You will also need to deploy your recorded messages to computers on your network that may be responsible for playing the messages. For instance, if you setup an alarm to use hardware on a particular computer to play a voice message to a sound card then you need to have access to the local or network voice message folder. Message Quality In most cases you will be able to play a wide variety of voice messages to a sound card but will experience problems when playing them with a modem. If you intend to have voice messages that will only be played to a sound card then you could experiment to find a voice format that sounds best in your environment. If you intend to use a modem or telephony card to play voice messages to a telephone then we recommend that you record your own voice messages as WAV files with the following specifications: - PCM 8.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Mono
What Driver Am I Using? Some modem and telephony card manufacturers produce their own TAPI drivers that play a variety of voice message formats. However, more often you will find that your hardware uses the Microsoft UniModem driver or a derivative to implement TAPI functionality. Best Practice Test ALL voice messages to a telephone line during installation. |
